The Myth of “Fast & Furious Marketing” (and what women in business actually need)

“Business is not a race, it’s a journey.”
A few words, said at the right time, can land like a truth you didn’t know you were carrying. That quote came from Keely Woolley—an incredible coach who supports high-performing women in business to succeed without compromising their wellbeing—when we were talking about the pressure women face to win business, perform, lead, and still be “everything” at the same time.
And honestly? That sentence stayed with me.
Because so much of today’s marketing culture feels like the opposite of a journey. It’s sold like a sprint. Fast. Loud. Everywhere. Always on. A constant push to do more, show up more, post more, launch faster, scale harder…
And if you’re a marketer, a leader, a business owner, you already know: marketing can be one of the most stressful roles in business. Strategy. Creativity. Deadlines. Client expectations. Market shifts. Hidden needs you have to interpret like a detective. It’s a lot.
So how can marketing be “easy” for an entrepreneur—especially for a woman in leadership—who doesn’t have a marketing background, but does have a solution people genuinely need?
That’s where the myth becomes dangerous.
Let’s name it: “Fast & Furious Marketing” is a myth
We’ve been sold the idea that marketing needs to be:
Fast (quick results, quick wins, quick funnels)
Loud (constant visibility, constant noise)
Everywhere (all platforms, all the time)
But this myth comes with a cost.
The cost is burnout, confusion, and disconnect.
You end up:
creating content you don’t even recognise as “you”
chasing strategies that don’t fit your life
launching before you feel grounded
feeling guilty when you slow down
doubting your value when results aren’t immediate
And the most painful part? You start building a business that looks productive… but doesn’t feel sustainable.
The truth we need to return to
Let’s anchor this:
✨ Speed doesn’t equal sustainability.✨ Loud doesn’t equal aligned.✨ Busy doesn’t equal impactful.
Read that again slowly.
Because the women I work with aren’t lacking ambition. They’re not lacking intelligence or talent.
They are often lacking a pace that supports their power.
Why marketing feels extra heavy for women in leadership
Women in business often carry multiple invisible roles at the same time:
leader
provider
caregiver (to family, team, clients, community…)
emotional regulator
“face” of the brand
decision maker
growth driver
And then marketing advice comes in like: “Just post 3 reels a day and launch every 6 weeks!”
That isn’t strategy. That’s pressure dressed up as productivity.
A healthier approach is not slower because you’re less capable. It’s slower because you’re building something that can actually last.
Authenticity isn’t a tactic. It’s a reset.
I want to say this clearly:
Authenticity is not a strategy. It’s an attitude. A way of being. A way of leading.
And when you market from authenticity, something shifts.
You stop asking:
“What’s trending?” and start asking:
“What’s true?”
You stop thinking:
“How do I get attention?” and start thinking:
“How do I build trust?”
You stop performing……and start connecting.
Authenticity brings you back to your centre—especially when the external noise gets loud.
🧘♀️ Authenticity helps you reset. It gives you permission to market from:
your pace
your truth
your vision
your values
your real capacity (not your burnout capacity)
Sustainable marketing starts in the NOW
Most stress comes from marketing that tries to live in the future:
“What if this doesn’t work?”
“What if I’m too late?”
“What if I’m not doing enough?”
“What if I’m not visible enough?”
But your business isn’t built in “what if.” It’s built in what is.
The NOW is where:
clarity is created
trust is built
relationships grow
consistency becomes possible
momentum becomes natural
You don’t need a louder strategy. You need a stronger foundation.
A simple, sustainable way forward: Foundations → Then Launch
If fast marketing is the myth, then here’s the healthy alternative:
1) Build personal brand foundations (first)
This means getting clear on:
who you are (as a leader and as a brand)
what you stand for
what you help people do
why your solution matters
what you want to be known for
This is where confidence comes from—not from posting more, but from knowing.
2) Create a simple marketing plan (then)
Not a 47-step funnel. Not an exhausting content machine.
A plan that fits:
your business model
your audience
your energy
your schedule
your message
So you can show up consistently without feeling like you’re constantly “on.”
That’s why I created a healthy (yet effective) challenge

A gentle question to leave you with
If business is not a race but a journey…what pace do you want to travel at in 2026?
